McFarland Speech and Poem given at Premiere in Bakersfield, CA

On Feb 20th, 2015, as McFarland USA was opening across the U.S., in Bakersfield, CA., I was invited to give a speech at a special screening. In the audience were the real people who inspired the film, other actors, current and previous McFarland cross-country runners, and local government officials.
I also read a poem I wrote inspired by the film and the people of McFarland, CA. The poem is titled “From here to McFarland”
